Thanks! My husband said they would not be laying for another month or so, but I told him I figured it would be soon. Still, it was a shock to see that small white egg in the nest yesterday when I was not really expecting it. A nice shock.

CONGRATS!! Beautiful eggs everyone!! I am getting 4-5 a day from my older girls and waiting patiently "NOT" HAHA for my others to start. I have 3 silkies, 2 buff orps, and 2 barred rocks turning 20 weeks on the 12th. And 3 EE'S turning 20 weeks on the 19th. And last but not least my 3 leghorns will be 20 weeks on JUNE 2ND!! It will be like Christmas!! I hope to get lucky and a few will lay around 20 weeks

The white egg is a store bought LARGE egg and the other two are my very first eggs which were laid today!! Obviously, one of them was broken but the other is plurrrfect!!! I have 8 chickens of 7 different breeds. The two that laid are the Barred Rock and the Gold Star. The Barred Rock has been a raging hormone for a week but the Gold Star just starting doing the submissive squat yesterday! Those two chickens are one week older than the other 6 chickens. I got them all March 8 and the 6 were born that week so first egg 18-19 weeks. I really love having chickens - they are all so cute and special. I am enjoying them so much. This forum makes them even more fun. You all are great too - I have been on other forums for other animals and everyone is much nicer than most other forums.

My last pullet finally started laying yesterday. First egg was slightly small and speckled with white dots.
Her second egg today was perfectly round like a ball. Neither of which show up very well in a picture.
