Since we only have four pullets, and can't have rooster in town, I KNOW ours will all be "laying flock." I started out choosing the ones I did to be dual purpose, but they're such characters that I know none of them will ever see a cook pot! I even overheard hubby saying that! He's worse than I am with spoiling our girls!The baby chicks are soooo cute!! They run around with pieces of scrambled egg and parade it around everyone. It's funny when half of them are doing it and the other half are in hot pursuit.
I'm going to pick up 5 more itty bitties today, my friend thinks her orpingtons got with her cemani hens and these 5 chicks are the result. She knows I will be using them as meat birds.
My bf said, Thanksgiving chickens? I think, sure why not? This could get interesting, but if they're very adorable then, well, I might stick them in my laying flock.
