My White Leghorn, Snow, has been laying little white eggs since August 2nd. On Friday, August 29th. one of my Rhode Island Reds, Ginger, laid her first brown egg:

Here it is in comparison to the White Leghorn's egg:

Both were hatched the last week of March. I have a Barred Plymouth Rock and a Blue Maran that have bright red combs and wattles and should start laying soon. This is so exciting!

I have some White Leghorns, my first, they have just started laying. They have a covered pen but if there is way for a couple of them to get out they will find it even though they have a big pen. I call them Houdini1 and Houdini2.

The first egg from our EE, Cleopatra. She's 20 weeks old today!
400

My hens are trained, all 500. They make beautiful nests in the mountains of NM.

The most birds I've had is around 400. Now I'm down to around 200. I know how collecting eggs for my 400 was. I do have several coops all with access to the nest boxes outside the coops. I can't imagine climbing mountains to collect eggs.

Oh my gosh, 500 chickens! I couldn't even imagine. I only have 5! Beautiful eggs and it's nice of them to share nests so you don't have to search for each one!
