Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but is there a difference between full size eggs and pullet eggs?

When the pullets first lay they are usually smaller and sometimes have imperfections like thin shells or defiormaties. After the second or third they seem to work out the kinks and give u their best. It's like a toddler learning to walk they start out slow and pick up speed

The older the pullet is before first egg, the larger it will be. Those that start early lay very small ones and they progressively get larger. That's why commercial egg companies try to delay laying age.

Found this tiny egg near their water bucket. Is this normal for new layer to have "Training Eggs" as my 5 year old daughter calls it? I think it from either a Barred Rock or Buff Brahma.

Mine weren't quite THAT small, but I've read that a lot are. I like your daughter's explanation.............training eggs!!!

I've read that some even have soft shells at first. It's been my experience that the first eggs are the smallest, and they gradually get bigger. My girls took SO long to lay their first eggs that I was about to give up on it ever happening! Even a tiny little egg would have been encouragement that at least one of them was trying! LOL!

I think I am going to save this tiny egg - it's so cute! It was exactly 6 months to the DAY they were born that 3 of our 7 girls laid their first egg. This one will be 4th to lay. It's almost like they just needed one to start and then the rest just followed the leader LOL.

Blow the egg out and save it, frame it, bronze it…those first smalls are so cute.
