I'm so happy! 4 out of 6 are now laying. 1 older hen is molting & my bantam polish we are still waiting on. But at least we are getting 3-5 eggs a day which includes the duck. :)

Back in May, I picked up three little chicks from a farmers market, hoping they were all ladies since having a rooster is against code here. After what felt like an eternity full of "rooster worry" (she never squated and that comb was getting out of control lol) I found this little gem in the box this afternoon!!

I've never been so excited! It's from my little barred mix and my other two should be following suit shortly! I can't wait!

Congrats

wohooooo.. Bleu the Andalusian has been laying pretty much daily since the 7th, today one of the three Bunnys (Easter Eggers) decided to join the egg laying fun

Actually today was the first day Bleu did the egg song at full volume, she had been making noises that almost sounded more like a Canadian Goose than a chicken(which was great with me since we're in a chicken free town)... While its really neat I'm a little worried how far the sound will carry once all five girls start singing the song....all of the immediate neighbors gave a thumbs up beforehand...

congrats.

They get quite noisy, good thing you have neighbors on your side.

In the middle of this Arctic Vortex and nightly temps -0 I got my first egg. Everyone is 19 weeks, I believe this is from one of my Welsummers! Found in one of the 4 nest boxes.
