It was so fantastic to come home after a few weeks of frequent 'egg watching' to open the lid to the coop & see this precious masterpiece awaiting, the 1st egg at 20 weeks! It's small, but Very Pretty. So do they get bigger?? Hope so! I couldn't wait to tell EVERYone that has been a part of this 'flock festival'!

We have 4BA and 7BR all 20 weeks today. Not sure who laid this one, but pretty exciting. My money is one of the BAs.

yes, SDchickie. My Barred Rock started laying a couple weeks ago and her eggs were pretty little, but now they are almost the same size as the store-bought eggs we get.

I just got my first egg! The culprate is a mix breed, I think. Her name is Mixer. She is 17 weeks old today and started laying 5 days after I put a golf ball in her "nest". Apparently all she needed was an 8x8 brick turned on it's side to look like a nexting box.

Here she is enjoying some rice pudding as her reward.

Im so excited.... 9/9/09....18.5 weeks. Found my first egg. We didnt have the nest boxes opened up yet. I went out to let them out in the yard to run and always check inside, clean up a bit etc...and whoo hooo!!
