Nilla's First Egg.
34879_nilla.jpg

All 6 of our girls are 25 weeks and only two are laying.

The top eggs are from Wednesday and the smaller lighter eggs are from Nilla our white cochin. We tried our first three eggs Sat and they were delicious. Wednesday has definately earned her keep. She has only skipped two days since she started laying last week. Nilla's a little slower. She has layed two since Sunday.

Here it is next to a brown AA large store bought egg

The silly birds kicked all the bedding out of the nest box so it got cracked a little on the top. So, I had no choice but to eat it right away!

It was my first "farm fresh" egg and I loved it. Really good flavor. Way better than the store bought eggs.

I was so happy to get that green egg! My Barnevelders are almost 27 weeks old and no eggs yet

I told them yesterday that they have until the end of the month to give me some nice brown eggs or they are going up for sale

I wasn't even expecting eggs from the EE's yet. Now I just have to figure out which EE girl it was!

I finally got my first egg on Friday the 16th and today Sunday morning there was another one. It is small and brown and I suspect it was from one of the Australorps or one from each. There are only the two hope that the EE will fall into line and produce a pastel tinted egg.
Since I bought my chickens as juveniles I am not certian of their age just that they are spring hatches.

Sorry, no picture, but have my first egg, yesterday, from my Barred Rock, "Blue". . . a perfect egg, small, but not tiny and hidden in a corner of the shed, where the chooks are not suppposed to go. . . but due to a problem with door, I am having a hard time keeping them out. Those cozy nest boxes must be feeling quite lonely!

I went in to my coop today to find one egg in the nest box, and one on the floor. I am sooooooo excited. One must be from my serama, and the other a showgirl. The second picture is of a store bought large egg.
