I have made a post for prettiest hens so now it’s time for a post for handsome cocks and roosters!!!

This is Smoky. His mother was a Black Australorp and his father a white and brown speckled Auricana. Unfortunately he became very aggressive and couldn't be kept.

This is Kiefer. He is a bit over 10 weeks old. I had order all pullets starting with Blue Cochins in March, Silverlaced Cochins in April then decided to order 6 White crested Polish that arrived about 3 weeks after my Silverlaced girls. He showed signs of being a cockerel a little over three weeks ago. Definitely not planned, but I think he’s very handsome.

That's what I thought. They are totally gorgeous, but I'm not sure they would do well in my climate. NJ is actually mostly hot and muggy all summer, so that's fine, but we do get some real winter so I can't say I ever seriously considered the more oriental types. But golly gee, I would love to look at those guys every day! Lol I saw something else that says the color doesn't breed true, so I would want to learn more about the coloring genetics before getting involved, realistically. It's neat though to me bc I do have the Welsummers, and their roosters are known for being very pretty, too. Similar coloring, but seems different types.

This cockerel is 18 weeks old. He is the only survivor of my first incubation. He was hatched out in a converted toaster oven. We named him Oster after the brand name on the toaster oven.

I understand my Barred Rock is 14 months old with big spurs. I got tired of holes in my legs so my uncle took him.
