I'll try to ge some pics for you later, my camera is down so I'll have to wait for my DD to charge hers. My two red stars started laying at 17 and 19 weeks and I average 13 eggs a week between the two of them. Their eggs are a dark almost tera cota brown and sometimes have darker speckles on them. I have several breeds of dual purpose hens/pullets and the red stars out lay all of them. They're a little lite bodied for dual purpose, but are egg laying machines and friendly to boot.

Red stars are a sex link chicken. They usually have a RIR for a father, but there are several crosses. Basically with a sex-link you can tell the pullets from the cockerals apart at hatching by their color.

In that case, I am getting a majority of small brown eggs, but I think my bigger red sex links are giving me these Ultra Jumbo brown eggs that dont fit in the carton. Most of my eggs have darker brown spots. I currently have red sex links, RIR, and BO's that are my brown egg layers. I'll have to take some pics this afternoon and put them up.
