My hen weaned her chicks a week and a half ago. She has been free ranging with the flock during the day but seems to be a loner at night the past two nights. The first night I brought her in after the rooster calmed down (he's one of her favorites) and was up in the loft on his roosting bar but last night I left her in the smaller enclosure within the run. She stayed on the branch above the coop itself. It's a safe enclosure since it's hardware cloth, welded wire top, etc.
Is she just needing time to adjust back since she really separated herself from the other 3 she used to hang with before becoming mom? She just not wanting to deal with the rooster before the door opens in the am maybe?

I do give her extra chick feed during her loner times and I talk with her lol
Is this behavior normal? I planned on letting her choose her nighttime location but I don't want to further segregate her either.

It may be the rooster or her flock mates may also be pecking at her as she regains her position in the pecking order.
Yes, I've seen her sister and her facing off first when she became momma hen and after she weaned. Kinda sad there was an inseparable quad of two hens and two ducks, now she's been out of the click. And rooster got the hose a few times today as he would not leave her alone otherwise. He still buggered her twice that I saw but she decided to stay with the flock last nite and tonight. Brought her in the house for a little too get cool and have special treats 😊
