Not sure what’s going on. This chicken was a chicken we hatched recently. It wasn’t until it was about 5 weeks old that it started showing odd symptoms. We brought it to the vet yesterday to check its legs because we thought one randomly broke or something. It started with limping then completely splayed. He said no signs of break or sprain but rec. rooster booster poultry cell and to brace splayed legs and do PT a few times a day with it. He said if no progress after a few days prognosis isn’t good. We have given one dose so far.

She is still eating, drinking & pooping. But her neck is turning backwards to the left now. Possible tremors too maybe? She seems tired but then perks up and bounces around a little.

I’m concerned now it might be a disease of some sort. We have had chickens for almost a decade and have never dealt with a disease with any of our chickens until possibly now. I’m also concerned if it is a disease do we need to do anything with our flock bc it could be contagious?

Pic in yellow container was on way to vet yesterday other 3 pics are from today

My first thought is niacin deficiency. If you have any poly-vi-sol (no iron) or other vitamin b drops, I would get her some immediately. You can put drop along the side of the beak or give on a small amount of scrambled egg so she eats all if it. This needs to be done several times a day.

The vet told us to get rooster booster poultry cell. She’s gotten two doses now. Would that be enough? 1cc once a day

I just looked up poultry cell and apparently it does have b vitamins, so I hope it helps. I have no experience with it but have used other drops successfully. Niacin deficiency seems to hit one random chick per brood so I always have the drops on hand. I truly do hope to see a recovery photo soon!

I'd honestly put her down, she looks like theirs dome neurological going on.
So hard for me to do that because she’s still eating, drinking and perky. If no disease I honestly see us making a wheelchair for her, getting diapers and her being a spoiled indoor chicken & going on walks lol

But praying for the best that she recovers with supplements and PT. We’ll see!

Thank you!! I will definitely update. Hopefully a positive one!
