Crazy thing just happened: My younger sister just came back from outside saying she saw what seemed to be a snake/lizard thing which was green and yellow. Then, I noticed a dead pigeon which I had seen earlier this morning, with no visible injuries. But now...the pigeon was a mess! Feathers everywhere, and a deep bloody hole in the poor pigeon's belly.:sick :tongueGagging, I headed back inside, but I turned around and heard a strange bird call? Potential predators? HELP!
Useful info:
  • I live in Australia
  • Cicken predators are usually foxes, snakes and hawks
Please! I need help!:fl

first of all make sure it's not your chickens that made the hole in the pigeon, they'll eat dead animals just like any other thing , could have been a hawk, hawks eat pigeons, at least some do . hope you find out I'm not familiar with any Australian chicken predators so I can't really help except for guessing

Ok that good news, thanks😅👍

Doesn't mean they are safe of course- I assume you have the right setup. But I've not heard of anything killing a chicken by eating it's abdomen. Sounds like some kind of carrion animal was chewing on it. Snakes only each chicks and eggs... if you have a snake big enough to eat your chickens wandering around you'd see it because it would be like 6 feet long. Hawks eat the heads, and sounds like it was daytime so that rules out most other predators.

That said, you are in Australia, home of more poisonous bugs and animals than people.
