I live in WV and I tried ordering a Bobwhite hatching egg/mini incubator kit from a company in MN. I ended up needing an importation permit (free) and a health certificate ($70) for 6 eggs!! I cancelled my order :( I understand the reasoning behind this, but I just want to hatch a few eggs to keep the birds as pets (indoors). Now I'm going to try and order the incubator from Amazon and the eggs from a seller on ebay so I can hopefully get around all this nonsense... Do all states have such strict regulations? I would buy some chicks local, but I'm having an impossible time finding ANYONE that has them near me. Too bad :(

Buy a pair bob white, let them give you the eggs and then try to find an incubator. Its hard sometimes, I know.

I could do that only I want to imprint on them as day old chicks as an effort to tame them, and also I cannot even find adult Bobwhites in my area :( I also wouldn't want to keep the untamed breeding pair permanently

All the sites I've found ask to buy 50 or more egg. If your looking only for 6 your going to have a big problem unless you find a breeder near you. If you buy a pair you can take the eggs and hatch them and once you have enough eggs you can sell the untamed pair. But only get rid of them if the chicks hatch. Try craigslist, or ebay ( be careful on ebay, a lot of scams) Their or other places but they are sold out.
