I am so excited to have had my first broody hatch my first ever chicks but now they are a few days old I thought I better start a new thread rather than posting pics on their hatching thread and then I can share my growing flock in one place!
My chicken adventure started a couple of days before Christmas (2017) when I brought home these 3 little scraps of feathers (7 weeks for the Sussex and 5 for the other two):

My little guy just loves them!

All good laying birds they started laying about 3 or 4 weeks ago and are consistently giving me an egg each every day (or near enough) :ya.

Then in early March I got 2 silkies - older girls (1-2 years) that had already been mums before - plan build my own flock full of colourful birds and colourful eggs was starting! Here are the girls when they arrived:

Within about 3 or 4 weeks Hermione (the Isabel) was broody so I got her some eggs which she sat on beautifully for me then on Thursday and Friday we spotted some gorgeous little chicks! We put 9 eggs under her, we got 4 live chicks , 1 dead (beak out) chick and 4 unfertile (my newbie candeling skills were obviously totally rubbish - I was sure I'd seen veins and a baby!).
I'm in love :love:loveThe 2 stripey ones are Araucana (if anyone can shed light on what they will look like as adults I'd love to hear - they are tuftless which a lot seem to be here in Europe !) and so is the little grey chick. The yellow one I've got no idea - could be a Bresse or could be my surprise egg - if anyone know please do tell me! It is quite a bit bigger than the other 3!

Today I got their run sorted out and took some lovely photos - I later realised that chicks fit through chicken wire (how stupid is that!!!??) so there is now a row of cardboard along the bottom until they get a bit fatter .

Silkies!! So cute! I love your flock! :love
Thank you they are a bit gorgeous!

I went to the lady I got the eggs from today to get more to go under Doris the slightly dim silkie (I got 3 orpingtons, 2 Australorps and a BCM - was going to get 2 of each but they aren't as dark as I want so only got 1 and an extra Orp'!). We spoke about the 'surprise egg' she'd given me which we think is what the big chick is and basically she has her laying chooks all muddled up together and just keeps her sets of breeding ones separated so it could be a mix of anything :lau - she thinks as it is quite big compared to the others it could be a mix of an Orpington possibly but I'll send more photos to her as they get older.
