Hi guys am I right in thinking this is a roo and not a hen as it was sold to me as. Your help greatly appreciated and do some hens crow? cheers Fee

That is definitely a roo, seeing that its tail feathers are pointed and that is has a large comb and waddle. Hens can make a hoarse crowing noise that isn't really crowing, but yours is a roo.

I agree, the red on the shoulders is also a roo trait.

The bird pictured is a cockerel. Hens can on occasion crow, but yours is definitely not female.
