We have been feeding Blue Seal layer pellets but yesterday I discovered Poulin Feeds Egglayer Crumblettes. These are higher protein (18%) than the Blue Seal (15%) and are mini-pellets.
I have two questions for anyone who uses this feed:
1. Will there be more waste when using the mini-pellets vs. the larger layer pellets?
2. Is 18% protein too high for laying hens? Most layer formulas are 15% but it seems to me that adding some protein to a hen that's producing makes more sense, especially in the colder months.
Our girls are receiving supplemental lighting so they may continue to lay over the winter.
Thank you in advance for any information.
