A few of my poults, now at age 3 weeks, have developed leg issues. I posted a few days ago and have changed their diet and I am feeding more protein and more vitamins. However they are not getting better with diet (but thankfully no one else has developed these leg issues). One of them really can't walk, it can hop around on one leg, but it holds the other leg up, the leg is often shaking, and it does not use it at all. I have seen this website http://www.poultryhelp.com/spraddle.html about the spraddle leg, but that is not really my issue. I am afraid taping it's two legs together will make it unable to move at all. I am wondering if anyone knows about actually using a splint (a small stick or popsicle stick) taped to the bad leg.
My other poult has a funny knee joint on both legs (it actually looks swollen), cannot walk super great on both legs and just kind of waddles around. It can't seem to straighten it's legs at the knee joint. Again, taping method for spraddle leg does not seem appropriate and I am wondering about sticks taped to both it's legs to try and straighten them.
Or maybe it's time to cull.... sigh
Thanks for your help.
