I was just wondering if poultry dust was safe to use on baby chicks and ducklings? If not when or how old should I start using it to keep the bugs away?

It is probably safe to use on chicks. I don't know anything about ducks though.
This question has been asked lots of times here, and I don't think I've seen a definitive answer that it should not be used on young birds. You should check out the product and call the manufacturer. I'm assuming that you are talking about permethrin. I looked at mine and there are no warnings on the label. Just says to use on poultry.(There could be other "Poultry Dust"s out there.) You will need to treat the entire area and coop.
Here's a link with some good info:

Imp- Good luck

Are you planning on using it as a preventative when they don't have bugs?? I don't think most people do that, mostly give them places to dust & only treat if they get bugs.

well for my older hens I dust the coop and put some in their usual dusting spots, but i did not know about the chick and ducklings and if I could use it in their areas, I was just doing it as a preventative measure.... just mostly in the ducklings and chicks night time house
