The Moonshiner's Leghorns

OK now back to the chocolate project...

The hatch should of according to the odds (of the duckwing chicks) produced 75% gold duckwing and 25% chocolate gold duckwing.
I'm thinking in the pics that's 2 GDs and 2 CGDs.

They are going to look so awesome! I can’t wait to see them grown out. Congratulations on those!

Ya we'll see. With the little bit of feathering so far they're lighter then I expected. The chocolate in general for me has always been pretty dark. With the GD female pattern I was wondering if it'd really show much of a difference.
New stuff is so fun.

The chocolate gene will replace any black in the tails of the gold duckwing pullets with brown. Any black will be modified to chocolate brown. So you will be able to tell the difference in the two. That is exciting!

In theory but the birds I used to bring in the chocolate were very dark. When I got them as chicks I would of swore they were black.
They finally lightened up some so I figured these chicks might be hard to tell unless doing a side by side with a regular brown.
I think they may just get interesting now. I figured the males would be more obvious.

Lockdown today.
Most of the buff eggs were clear. Guess they've decided the season is all but over.
Got several chocolate eggs in there so I'll be hoping on those. Not a lot of the blue crele project eggs. Can only get a male with one barring gene there but not sure if I've hatched a blue crele chick yet so I need a few of them in a hurry too.
Getting late in the season here.

Yeah the chocolate Ameraucana I have looks almost black. You can only tell when she is in the sun or next to the black one I have.
