Hi everyone

My husband and I went to the show in Lake City yesterday and had a great time. I am very new to being a chicken Lover and owner and I was amazed at all the different breeds of chickens there are.

We saw: Seabrights of all colors, Silkies of all colors, Brahma's, Cochins, Modern's, Rosecombs, Leghorns, RIR's, Duckwing, Wyanndotte, Astrolops, Ara something or other, buff orphingtons, plymouth rocks , old english, sumatra's, serama's, mille fluer, d'uncle?, so many breeds I just can not remember them all

These birds were exquisite. I wanted to take them all home with me.

A woman was selling black cochins that were almost as big as I am, I only stand 4'11" tall.

I did not see any BYC t-Shirts there which surprised me and my husband. We did learn a lot yesterday and picked of a few items we needed. I thought there would be more venders out there selling products as well.

All and all it was a good day. We enjoyed t very much.

Dan said until these 9 eggs hatch and we see what we end up with I can not bring in any more chickens.

I was there. Sorry I didn't get to meet you. I couldln't stay as long as I wanted. I had an entourage with me and we had some plans and my mother had sent cornmeal for an elderly uncle ( secret advice: don't let anyone know where your going). I did see Cracker and his wife from BYC but didn't get to spend but a few min. talking to them. I picked up a trio of Black silkes Bobbi Porto brought me. She forgot my Buff chicks. I bought a buff hen from her too. Picked up the mother hen of my Mottled Orp Cockeral and she had moulted and changed colors. I can't beleve it. She doesn't look like the same chicken. I will have to get before and after pics. Same breeder brought me 5 Orp eggs to hatch. I love it but just wish I could have stayed and visited with some more people.

I also went. It was my first poultry show, but I was a little disappointed by the relative lack of variety there. It seemed like there was an overabundance of moderns, seabrights and OEGBs. Not too much representation of the heavy breeds. There were some beautiful chickens there though.

DW and I enjoyed the show, and liked seeing a lot of very nice quality birds. It was good to talk to BamaChicken, even if only for a short time. She was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.................oops

The Kid & Dame Hi: You could not have been to the show that I was at, there were over 50 breeds , and exhibitors from 16 states. The Lake City show is the largest in Fl. and one of the largest in the SE. I am sorry you were disappointed. JB

No I am pretty sure I was there. I can't imagine there were too many poultry shows in Lake City that weekend. I know that there were indeed many breeds represented, but some, mainly bantam breeds seemed to have more entries. I personally like big chickens.
