The notion that blindly adding "new blood" to a breeding program is likely to have a positive result is simply wrong. Check with people who have bred birds for a long time & whose birds have shown competitively for a long time & you'll find that they have line bred within the same strain. Most successful breeders rarely, if ever, add new blood. When they do it's controlled, limited & from a strain they are familiar with.
