Hi - we had a hen loose with 6 poults. Looks like she may have been attacked. We found 3 poults and put them in a brooder. They seemed very healthy when we found them, but now after 2 days 1 died and the others aren't looking good. I'm not sure they are eating and drinking adequately. We have been dipping their beaks in water regularly. The only thing I have really seen them eat is salmon berries, but they were curious about everything before they became lethargic. There are some normal poops in the brooder, but I also found this weird one. Sorry it is on the dead poult. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear about your pullets.

They may have eaten something toxic, but also they may have gotten a disease from the hen that they couldn't fight off, because they were young. She would then be called a carrier, because she can pass on a disease that doesn't effect her.

Are they getting starter/grower food? Are they being kept warm? Could they have parasites or coccidia from being stressed from the move? Could they have been injured and developed an internal infection?

The dropping does look weird. It could be just from a lot of berries that it looks like that.

Make sure they are getting electrolytes, water, and are kept dry and calm. Try not to stress them if you can help it. Try treating them for coccidia or worms, that could help.

I hope everything works out!
