power failure... :(

Welll one is fine but the other has something hanging out of its butt. I had to help it out because it only pecked once and never did anything but its breathing

Don't pull that!!! It is most likely the umbilical cord. It will bleed. Is it still in the shell or did you pull it out?

I pulled it out.. I thought I was supposed to because it never moved after three hours and that's when I saw the thing. It bled a little but it stopped

it could be 12-24 hrs after the peck the hole before hatching. when it hatches on its own I would not be connected to the egg. or just barely.

Oh.. thanks for the info. Its very much appreciated. The chick I helped hatch can't seem to pick up its head but that's the only abnormality so far

I had a straggler I did have to help- i put her on a hand warming packet and fed her yolk water- I thought she would not make it, then *pop* she was up and running around with the other chicks.

I have had that happen before with a chick I had to help out. Keep it warm & give it a little time. It should pull out of it. Honestly so strange how just helping a chick out a few hours early would make such a difference. They often will pip & widdle at the egg for the longest time, take a very long nap, then push with all their strength
to get out. It is something that happens during that nap?!!!

Oh.. well it slowed way down breathing so I just put the poor chick out of its misery... it broke my heart

I packed a chick around for 2 days once. it had a limp neck and eyes closed. I kept it warm feed it yolk water and 2 days later it was getting around. it never bonded with the other chicks or the adopted mom though.
