Hello y'all,

So it is currently raining hard in my area and while it rains I've almost always have gotten power outage. I'm on day 22 of egg incubation. 3 of 4 eggs have already hatched. One just hatched an hour ago. The last egg has already pipped, but what do I do if I do experience a power outage? I normally leave the chicks in the incubator until they're all dry and fluffy.

That is a dilemma, lucky you Florida has warmer climate. Regardless you need to keep them @95-99 degrees, you can either be the surrogate hatching mom or brooder By using your body heat, but might take hours not conducive if you have to go to work or do other stuff. An alternatve is a small portable propane heater or a kerosene heater to keep them warm. Hopefully power will not be affected this time but prepare for the worst.

I am not sure if you can still find them but you used to be able to purchase chemically activated heating pads. Just add a little water to then and they heat right up and stay hot for hours. I have heard of people also heating up water and using hot water bottles another option may be hand/feet warmers.

Hmmm....wonder if the power has gone out?
Do you have a gas oven, might be able to heat some rice bags or bricks to keep the chicks warm.
