Power Outage

We, like so many others, got our power knocked out by this recent storm. It’s been a day and 1/2, and there’s no estimate for when it will return. Just using a bit of cell phone battery before turning in for the night (at 5 pm!). We have a wood stove, so we won’t freeze, but that’s all we’ve got. Perhaps this won’t be the best Christmas ever, although it sounds like the start to a cheesy Christmas movie, “couple loses power for the holidays and finds out what’s REALLY important!”

Sigh.

The ducks are unimpressed by the lack of light and the not as fresh water. It also went from 40 something degrees to 4 degrees very quickly. Hopefully, they will be ok.

Anyways, enough battery used for now.

We've lost power before, but never in winter. Glad you have a wood stove. I nearly went insane without power. You definitely learn to appreciate it quickly once it's gone. Hope it comes back on for you soon.

Thank you both! We are on day 3. I’m feeling done with this.I miss running water most of all… That being said, we are safe and warm enough! The ducks are having an argument about who gets to drink from their one bowl (they usually have 2). I’m going back to curling up with my book while I still have light!

Yes, thankfully! It also serves as a way to charge our phones. We are about to head out on another great adventure as some version of hot food is needed. Chinese food looks to be the one and only option, and we are looking forward to it!

The electric company’s website currently states that we only have 5 +/- more hours of this, although it said that once before, 2 days ago.

I have to work tomorrow. I would greatly appreciate having running water before then, even if it is still cold.

The ducks have now moved on to bottled water. The Muscovies, in particular, are impressed, and are savoring every sip. They better not get used to it!
