Good evening. I got home from work this afternoon to a power outage. I have 48 eggs in the incubator and the temp read 82 degrees when I finally got power back. What are the odds that the eggs are still good?

Thanks in advance

Brian

The Odds Could Be Quite Good Brian... Just Depends On How Long The Power Was Out And How Cool The Embryos Got Inside The Eggs??? But Your Problem Is Not Uncommon... Look Around And You'll Find Many Postings About Successful Hatches After Power Outages. Personally Unless I Absolutely Needed The Bator Space I Would Let 'em Ride And See

That is kind of what I was thinking. They should start hatching next week and I have plenty of incubator space for now. I am sure the power was off for several hours.

The law of averages is on your side. You should be fine. Low temps will cause embryos to "diapause". This is natural in the bird world, because the hen has to go eat and take a potty break.

82 deg. is not deadly, and it sure beats 107 for several hours. You should be fine!!!
