So on the second day of lockdown there was a power outage for two hours the temperature dropped 10 degrees. Just wondering how will that effect the hatch?

Ok thanks I thought curled toes were from to long in the incubator after they hatched

several things can cause it, taking to long to hatch is probably the main thing. if this is your first hatch, don't be to eager to help them out.

No this is not my first hatch I have just never had a power outage during a hatch before

So an update the hatch went horrible so I got 9 out of the 38 eggs that were alive the week before when I candle to hatch. Out of those 9 five died before they even dried do to the fact that the yolk hadn't been sucked into the belly of the chick

ok, time to figure out what went wrong. the yolk being outside is affected by low temps, but usually not affected by less than 24 hours of a temp drop. did you help any of them out of the shell?

i guess the temp drop could have caused this, but its not common. your temp drop is no worse than the hen getting off the nest for a little bit. if you try another hatch, and still have the problem, raise the temperature a degree on the following hatch. did they hatch on day 21 as planned?
