I am seriously upset.

I put my eggs into "lock-down" yesterday morning. This morning at 4am when my truck driver hubby was getting up for work he noticed that the alarm clock was getting dim, then bright so on and so forth. He took a multimeter down in the basement and found we were only getting 68 volts of electricity to the house. He called the electric company and they told him there was a "brown out" where a tree had pulled an electric line down but not snapped it so the electricity was partially ground and we weren't getting fully power. They recommended we shut down the power to the house because it was burning out the motors in our appliances. So my power was out for 9 hours. The temp in the incubator was 76 and the humidity was 43% when I finally got the power back on.

My question is has anybody had the power out for that long and had a good hatch? I quickly candled the eggs and noticed a little movement in them. The incubator is back up to 100 and the humidity is 62%. I do have one egg rocking and rolling in there although I don't hear any peeping yet.

Someone please give me hope, I am very sad.

I also had 13 day 7 eggs in the 'bator too.

i candled the eggs and there was just a round dark spot in everyone. is that what it is suppose to be on day 4?

From my experience I couldn't tell if there was anyhting going on in the eggs until day 7.

Give it some more time unless somebody more experienced passes through this tread. I wouldn't give up just yet.

I would just wait it out and see what happens in a few days. I would also give them about 3 more days. I always do anyway, even if nothing happened to the bator. I have had several eggs hatch out 2 days late. I've also had them hatch out 2 days early. The early ones always service but my lates one is about 50/50.

I can't say what will happen with yours but give them time. Your other ones that are a week along, I would also wait. Candle them and take note of each one's progression then in another week check again. If no progress then its a loss.

I do wish you luck. I lost power the night before my 3 day wait once and all went well but my power was only off for a few hours and the temp only got down to 83. As far as your humidity it is fine. My humidity is usually in the high 40's until the last 3 days then I get it up to around 60-75%.

4 out of my 5 eggs that were in lock down are rocking and rolling so I have hope!

Unfortunately the one not doing much is my one lone Silkie egg. I'm hoping its just gonna hatch on Saturday or Sunday.

Still keeping my fingers crossed!

As of this morning, day 22, one hatched overnight and 2 more pipped. So it was not a total loss. I'll get pics when they are done hatching and I move them to the brooder.
