I bought a hamburg chicken two weeks ago and had her isolated. She has pox, had it when I bought her, just did not know about pox then....... Last week I bought two half-grown polish hens and put them in the pen next to hers. Should I move them away from her? How long is the incubabion? Thanks

"Since fowl pox usually spreads slowly, a flock may be affected for several months. The course of the disease in the individual bird takes three to five weeks."

My flock has it and they are on week 2 of the actual outbreak of scabs. I would think that the Polish have already been exposed to it. You can vaccinate them but it might be too late.

I put the Polish in another pen away from the infected bird. I will just watch them for signs. I started the Hamburg on antibiotics today. She seems to be eating ok. Good lesson for me - keep birds from different places isolated (really isolated, not next to each other!) until you know they are healthy. Thanks for your reply.
