Practicing starting a new thread by saying hello...
Hello everyone, My name is Renee and I live in Orangevale, California. Thats just outside of Sacramento.
I live on one acre in a rural community.

I bought my first coop and four barred rock hens from my neighbors that were moving about a year ago.
They built the coop they gave me, and it really is one of the best coop set ups I have seen.
It has a crank that you can crank it up and roll it around the yard.
Its half enclosed and half open, the back opens to easily clean it, and it has great little nesting boxes with easy opening hatch to get the eggs.

The neighbors warned me that two of the hens were getting older and may stop laying soon.
So a few months later we bought three light Brahmas chicks at the feed store.
One of them ended up being a Roo, I call him Rooster Boy (he is my profile pic).
So far hes sweet and not causing any problems and I hope he stays that way cause he is just a treat to look at.
He has really bonded with one of the light brahmas, like Romeo and Juliet, it is quite sweet to see all he does for her and how they cant stand to be apart.

When the neighbor sold me the hens I asked her a million questions, I was quite nervous but excited.
The neighbor also referred me to this website as her source of great information.
I have used it several times, from raising my chicks to identifying that I had a roo.
I am really enjoying raising and having chickens.
I have a lot to learn, and look forward to reading and seeking advise here.

Thank-you for posting for us newbies, it is much appreciated!

~Renee
