I picked this Prairie Bluebell chicken out of a straight run bin at Tractor Supply. I actually picked out two but I don't believe the other one is a PBB. I'm still not sure if it's a hen or roo? It's about 12-13 weeks old in these pictures. I'm hoping for a hen but I'm starting to think it's a roo. The pea comb is just starting to turn red (today they are 14 weeks old). Up to the point of these pictures, the comb was yellow/peach looking. So far, there has been no crowing and it's just as timid/scary as the others that I'm certain are hens. The legs look a little thick to me (but they also look the same as the black Marans). Some of the feathers look like they are turning downward. I'm not sure if it's the breed or a "roo" sign. What do you think, hen or roo? (The other light colored chicken came from the same "Prairie Blue Bell" bin, but I think it's a Splash.)
