We were eating prawns in the garden the other day and the hens got hold of the shells and they loved it, all the little leggy things and everything!!!!

A - I assume these are ok for them as they haven't been upset.

B - Do you think the shell is in any way useful for going towards egg shell production like oyster shell is?

I know that here, on the coastline, chicken farmers use all kinds of seafood leftovers for their hens. I'd still feed layer formula to bne sure they get a balance but over the centuries seafish scraps have been traditional chicken feed.

We give them shrimp tails and they love them! I figure it is just calcium of some sort.

Oh that's good, they really, really enjoyed them, they can have all the shells as a treat next time we treat ourselves!!

We always give them the layers mix, whatever we give them as treats is extra.
