I just found out this morning that my Uncle Gary has inoperable liver cancer. He just found out last night. Apparently he had been losing a lot of weight recently, and finally went to the doctor. They did a CT, and then an MRI, finding a very large liver mass. He went in for a biopsy yesterday, with results promised by Wednesday. What they saw was bad enough and obvious enough that they called him last night and told him it is definitely cancer, the mass is far too large to safely remove from his liver, and he needed to come to town TODAY. (They live in a very small town on the other side of the state). Right now the only thing they've been told as far as a treatment option is an injection they put straight into the tumor that is supposed to keep it from growing further. They don't know if or how far it has spread already and what other organs are already affected, though for the size of the tumor it's very likely they will find it elsewhere.
His wife, my aunt, caught an early cancer on herself a couple of years ago, which so far (thank God!) has not returned. He has had multiple back surgeries, and has had continual leg problems since being too close to an anti-personnel device in Vietnam. My cousin (my aunt's only child) was killed by a drunk driver 13 years ago at the age of 21. She lost her mother to lung cancer, and he has lost multiple family members to various cancers, the most recent being his sister just last year.
This family has been through SO much! Any thoughts or prayers you might spare for him and his family would be so much appreciated. Thank you so much.
