I love mantids! How will you keep the female from eating the male after they mate? Or will you just let their nature take it's course?

Their siblings!

Mantids, in general, need to eat their mates after breeding, or else the females can not provide enough nutrients to form her ootheca and produce her eggs.

Fruit flies, about 3-4 a day with tweezers.

I tried yesterday but it ended up with a blurry bug because my phone kept unfocusing.
They are very small, I do have a picture of one eating on my hand.

I've never heard of keeping them as pets but here's a couple nice photos. Another teacher caught and released this one outside the school I worked at.

I think I have a praying mantis encasing on a tree in my back yard. I'll take a picture of it later.
