My hubby reminded me that if I really wanted to raise a meat flock it might be a long wait. We applied pre emergent on our grass due to multiple varieties of painful stickers. We currently don’t have chickens but honestly planned to do a run of meat birds first for the freezer. The pre m was granular form I’m in Texas. Am I out of luck on chicks & for how long? Btw all said weeds have sprouted and going strong despite poisoning my yard! Ugh

First start with "which pre-emergent did you apply"? Depending on its active ingredient, you may have been able to set chickens almost immediately on those grounds. Most require re-treatment after 2-3 months as well. Personally, not a fan.

left TX a few years back. I recall some nasty gresses with evil "stickers". Controlled mine mechanically, not chemically. Took years.
