Ballsy? Real balsy! I had a panther cross about 20 feet in front of me to jump on a group of hens. They went flying and the Aussies ran it off over the fence. I was frozen. Good free ranging hens. Isbar crosses. That cat had to have known I was at the barn not ten minutes before. That was before the pyraneese! If the chickies make an off sound anywhere on the property the Aussies are on it. A day before I had lost an old fat lavender Orpington and a Russian barnevelder probably to the panther. No problems again. I have only lost one other hen. She was an only child and a loner without a rooster She made it back to the coop but died. I have had my gorgeous splash rooster almost killed. Blind in one eye now but the girls still love himMy concern is when I free range them and hour or 2 during the day, supervised. Idk how ballsy these predators are. At night they will all be locked in the safety of their coop.
