My birds were attacked the evening/early Friday morning. We lost 10 birds. About two hours ago our neighbor found one of our bantes wounded walking along the side of the road about a half mile from our house. He picked her up and brought her back. She has a wound to the right side, towards the back that has insect activity. She is eating and drinking and walking and with her remaining peep. I don't know what to do to irrigate and care of the wound or if I should just put her down. I really need some help with this. We do have her in a carrier. She was my first bird so I wold appreciate any suggestions.

I would flush the wound with hydrogen pyroxide, it will kill the maggots. Some povidone iodine ointment or neosporin ointment will keep the skin moist and kill some of the bacteria. You'd be amazed at how fast she'll look better.
Hope this helps you! Carrie

We flushed her out last night and the wound didn't look that bad. Put a layer of Neosporin on and put her in isolation. She was up and eating and drinking today but the next round of maggots are there. I had her in the tub under warm running water but did not get all of them. Will need to run to the store for peroxide. She is definitely more perky than yesterday. I have her chick in a carrier next to her pen and she is cooing. I take that as a good sign though.
