Last night my chickens wouldn’t go in the coop but two. The two that did go in are best friends and love each other. Two of the chickens were on the ground. My hen, Edith was laying on the ground right outside the chicken coop and my rooster Brad was laying in the ditch. I also free range. One I found on the feed which is on my front porch. Another one was by the garage. I still don’t know where one is. I have one in the house do to an injury. The missing hens feathers were all in the coop. I don’t have many predators where I live. The only predators I have are birds of prey and if she were in the coop then a bird wouldn’t have tried to got her. I’m thinking either they got in a fight and everyone got scared which doesn’t sound right. This hen was a loner. She did most of the things by herself or she was with Pisces or Heather.
Theory 2: A predator visited which also doesn’t sound right considering we don’t have raccoons or opossum or at least the three years I have lived here I haven’t seen any.
Theory 3: I might have mites but if I had mites wouldn’t all the chickens not go in the coop.
I should also note that when I found them and they got up they were acting as if it was daylight when it was 7:30-8:00. I’m sorry that this is so long I just want to go over everything I can.
