Predator or not?

So recently I’ve noticed there’s a pair of Mississippi kites that made a nest in my neighbors tree. I know they are carnivores. Are they threats to my chickens? Has anyone ever had problems with them? They circle my yard daily but I’m not sure if it’s my birds they are after or just patrolling their nest.

Not. They will take small birds and insects. Prey needs to be small enough to eat on wing or take easily to top of a tree.

I have seen Kites fly over us. They don't seem to be interested in the birds.
