Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I hadn't even thought about the hawks waiting around in the trees for an ambush so I'm glad I learned that. I have a sort of vision in my head of how I think I might make the run.
I want to put a coop made out of a shed or something near the garden and have a large run out from there. The garden is in raised planters and I plan to put fencing around and even on it if I need to. (and maybe put a little ramp when I need the soil tilled!) I might not have the run go around the fruit trees if cost becomes an issue because the netting would need to be pretty high. If anything I might be able to do it around some trees and leave others. But I think aviary netting would be good since it is a large area. And if I need to cover the trees I can find some large poles to hoist the net high enough.
