New to chickens, just finished plans for the run/coop and construction is beginning this week. My protected run will be inside a larger fenced area. Larger fenced area is 40ftx40ft chain link, 4ft tall. My builder is putting the run on concrete foundation like this:

The concrete will go down 8 inches. Is that enough "predator proofing" or do I still need to add a hardware cloth skirt?
We do have possum and raccoons around but in very low numbers. Thank you!

8" will be fine. The 4' fence will keep stray dogs out. Racoons and possum will easily go up and over the perimeter fence. What type of fence and roof are you doing for the run?

Thank you PC! Run/coop is nestled right up to house and porch so that is 2 sides. Third side is an installed sliding glass door. I know that sounds weird but that is the side that gets the driving rain but I still wanted lots of light. 4th side is standard wood frame with hardware cloth and a Pullet-Shut door out into the fenced yard. Roof is framed with plywood/asphalt shingles. I'll put pics up next week.
