Just playing around with my own flock for myself (not showing or selling…if anything might make chicks for a friend that wants chickens)

These are my two roosters at the moment.

Both are Easter Eggers. (I don’t like the comb on the black one, it’s huge and floppy..deformed imho)

I’ve been told the black one will throw more roosters then hens (75/25)

I’m curious about a couple things.

1) can you predicted sex of future chicks by the color of the rooster?

2) could I get a blue or splash out of either rooster?

3) what would I need to create blue or splash?

4) what would I need to blend to get the rosed comb or a small tight comb

Thanks in advance for any thoughts, tips, suggestions.

The roosters color has nothing to do with what sex the chicks would be. The rooster has nothing to do with what sex the chicks will be.
You can not get any splash chicks from either rooster. You could get some blue chicks if bred to a hen that has blue. You could get all blue chicks if bred to a splash hen. I don't necessarily mean completely solid blue but blue where any black would be.
His comb is not deformed. It's mixed comb genes. To get what you want don't breed to hens with single combs or that carry single comb genes.

I am thinking of adding to my flock (rooster & hens)

I have a bunch of blue & lavender hens - interestingly I’ve given some fertile eggs to friends with broody hens and their chicks seem to be a mix but getting black chicks is common so far.

Suggestions why? Is there a list somewhere that shows the most common colors that come from mixes? Will you always eventually create black chickens???
