So I am tossing up Freedom Rangers from J.M Hatchery.

And after having my Cornish X, they really smell bad, and they grow freakishly fast.
But after processing them....THEY ARE DELICIOUS.

So I think I may try both next time, and make a different type of set up for the Cornish X.

Does anyone have a hatchery they prefer to get their meaties from?

I got mine at Murray McMurray. Straight Run 25 for like $40 shipped.

I would like to shop around but wanted some personal opinions, and personal experiences.

Or know a good thread that someone has covered this- I have really time finding anything with the search on this site.

I just use a hatchery that is close to me so the chicks aren't stressed out as much. I also prefer a place that hatches on Monday or Tuesday. I placed an order from MM last year, and while all the chicks were fine, were delivered to the area's central postal processing center, not to my post office. They did a good job of calling me but it was on a Saturday and had to make a special trip (1 hour away) to get them.

Every year I order my Cornish X's from Hoover's in IA. They hatch on Tuesday and at my post office right away on Thursday morning

As for the search feature. I think sometimes there is just too much information on this site to sift through. Some terms like "hatchery" will bring up thousands of threads. In that case I don't think anyone will blame you for just asking a question that may be answered somewhere else.

I have had some from Ideal, McMurray, and now Meyers - I ordered from them this year, as I thought as they were closer that they would arrive faster, but they were shipped Monday and arrived Thursday - same as everywhere else. They were a bit cheaper at 1.09 per peep.
I am pleased with them, at 2 weeks out of 63 have only lost 1 and they have stockier legs than the others have had. All 3 hatcheries chicks have been fine tho and no problems with any of them.

I haven't ordered from Meyer's before. WOW, the broilers are $1.00 more than Hoover's!!

I wonder if it really matters. I'm under the impression that they are all from the same stock. (from reading other threads there seems to only be a couple places that sell these eggs for them to hatch)

ETA: Sorry, I didn't click on the actual description. The $2.09 each is for 11 of them. When you get 100 they are the same price as Hoover's.

Hmmm,, may have to give them a shot with my second batch this summer
