We have our first pregnant foster dog! I know there are a bunch of people here with dog experience and I was hoping for some breed guesses and maybe some advice...
The shelter she dumped at guessed brittany/beagle for breed, but I don't see the brittany at all... The rescue she was in before she came to up here (she is from GA somewhere) guessed beagle/collie. That seems closer, I guess... I definitely see beagle (and hear it too, she bays like a beagle), but I'm not sure what else. She has a really wide chest which looks very bulldoggy to me, so I'm leaning toward beagle/bulldog. I don't have a good picture of her from the front yet, so you can't really see it in the pictures...

This is Sunday night, right when we got her home. She was REALLY dirty and had flees. You can see how dirty the fur on her chest is...

This is Wednesday on her first walk in our woods. After three thorough baths and Revolution for the flees, we let her meet our dogs and explore our house and yard. She loves our whole gang, from our four pound papillon mix to our hundred and six pound berner! For scale, the other dog in the picture is Jack, our (supposedly purebred) sheltie who is about forty pounds. We were told she is fifty-two pounds or so, but she's very pregnant...

The hair loss on her nose, ears and tail is from demodectic mange which she was treated for before we got her...

She is a very sweet dog and we love her already! Every time someone new comes in the room her tail wags like crazy! This is our first time doing this so any advice about caring for her and her impending puppies is very welcome... From what we were told, she is at least 57 days pregnant, so she is due any day!

Thanks!

what is her size? she looks st bernard to me crossed with a smaller, short haired breed....

she really has that beagle look - but for other breed not to sure

about the mange -- we adopted a female boxer that had that who was preggers - the mange passed to one of her puppies - when that puppy got to be about 6 months old it was almost totally bald even with the vet treatments - the owner eventually put the pup to sleep.

we got Daisy treated but anytime she got stressed it would flair up all over again.

did the shelter/vet tell you how soon to be looking for puppies?

I agree,I don't see Bulldog anywhere....My first thought color and size say Sheltie X Beagle or Collie X Beagle mix....on a long shot maybe Boxer X Beagle....she does resemble the Mountain Cur rescue I had maybe she is Mountain Cur X Beagle....FYI the Mountain Cur rescue I fostered gave birth to 9 pups!!! If any of her pups are born with naturally docked/bobbed tails I would say Mountain Cur mix.

Yeah, looking at those pictures again, you can't really see it at all. She doesn't have a bulldog face or anything... It's just when you look at her straight from the front she has that really wide, low stance bulldogs do...

I'm going to say Cur X Beagle also, kinda resembles one we had at the Humane Society here when I worked there. Although no matter how many guess you get you will never really know.

She is a beagle mix. Is the tip of her tail white?

She is very cute. Enjoy the babies.
