So, did the mother completely abandon them or what happened?


I don't know if it was just in the pics, but when you bottle feed them, make sure the bottle is upright enough so the nipple is full of milk, so they don't inhale air.

Ps, good job with taking care of them! It's very time consuming.

Yes. Their mom did not want anything to do with them. Yes I know, I have been making sure the bottle is up. I'm really exited to actually raise them, but I still wish she would have taken them.....

I'm sitting here with my cat and hers are kicking around, so far no sign of labor or anything. I have a feeling she still has another week or so, but who knows really.

Ok, well I guess I was wrong. About 4-5 hours ago I was holding her, and she ferociously dug into the blankets, and wouldn't eat food (even wet). I just checked on her, and she was licking herself quite frequently, and is also now lactating which she was not even earlier today. I did not see any contractions, but I think I will have kitties soon too!

*Update* All the kittens are doing great. I was afraid they weren't getting enough and had to ditch the bottle. Now I am using a syringe to feed them and I think they are getting more out of it. Although I'm a little worried about one in particular who won't eat anything. I got a little worried because I had an alarm set for 4:00 to feed them and it didn't go off. I woke up at 7:00 and realized and went to feed them but they are still fine. Now I gotta go make some fresh formula. I had a kitten meowing at me just a minute ago.

Nothing yet. I had her locked in a XL dog crate overnight with food/water, litter box and her bed so that I could keep and eye on her (right by my bed) she yowled for a while and was restless but I didn't see any contractions or discharge when I did check on her.
Gah! I wish she would just have them. I hope she is going into labor and isn't just fooling around lol.

Have you tried making the hole on the bottle larger if you think they aren't getting enough? I hope you don't have school/work etc to go to on top of feeding kittens every 2 hours!

I keep trying to make it bigger but it doesn't work. I think the syringe is working way better though. I do have school work but today is the last day and it is online, so I am still able to feed them when they need it.

Still nothing. I sure hope she has them soon and doesn't have another week or longer to go.
When yours was having contractions, you say that her stomach tightened... was it extremely noticeable?

ETA just after I pushed submit she walked over to a mat thing and started digging/clawing in it lol.

It wasn't really noticeable. Just feeling her stomach was how I knew. Although, right before she was about to give birth, it was totally noticeable. Hope you have kittens soon!

Oh ok. I see her almost shiver or tremble, I wonder if that is what it is. She is doing alot more licking. Hopefully the next time I am on she will have had the kittens!

How are your little guys? Is that one eating now?
