So I have been incubating 11 call duck eggs for the last 27 days and have had 1 successful hatch but I noticed that one of the eggs is malpositioned and has its foot over its head. I made a safety hole and chipped away at the shell and the duckling looked fine. Later this afternoon the duckling started to hatch and was half out of its shell when I picked it up to make sure it was ok and found that it was stuck to the inner shell by its yolk sac. I put the baby back into the half shell and wrapped it in tissues and it fully detached from the shell later that night at around 10 pm. It still had a little belly button and some blood around the area where the shell was attached. I did the best I could but I don't know how to care for this kind of situation and ended up placing it in the brooder in a separated box surrounded by tissue and paper towel with a small bowl of water and duck mash. It is now around midnight and it looks rather sickly and skinny compared to the other duckling and it cants quite balance itself and stays upright. It is drinking and eating but I need some advice on how to prevent this and how to care for it now.
In other unfortunate news it is 2 days past the expected hatch day and only the 2 eggs that have hatched are showing any signs of external piping. All the other eggs have safety holes but don't seem to be hatching anytime soon. For some background info these eggs came from a guy on craigslist selling backyard pet duck eggs from a non-show line.
I also noticed that when I introduced the two calls (before separating them) that the weaker one was getting nibbled at around the bill and face and didn't seem to fight back and I don't know what that means in duck culture.

Put it into a cup or small bowl on a soft cloth and keep it in the bator till the yolk is absorbed. Can you get a pic of the yolk with out touching it?
hi sorry I did not respond. I did what you said and it looks like the took fell off and now its walking around. Is there anyway i could stop this from happening with my other eggs?
