Premature Hatch?

My blue Swedish has been broody for roughly 29 days. This morning I checked the eggs, no visible pips but I didn’t want to bother them. Then I found a little dead one, his butt end was still in the shell. He did not absorb all the yolk yet. Do you think he hatched prematurely? What about the other eggs? Shouldn’t they be pipping and zipping? She is a young, first time mom but she has been very good thus far.

Sounds like she is panicking and possibly killing them as they hatch. Is she totally private and separated from your other Birds?

First time Mommas are hard to understand...Privacy is definitely needed. Zero interference.

I just went in and separated them, she is acting pretty frantic when I get near her. I am trying to back off as much as possible but didn’t think about removing the drake

Definitely you didn't know...
Keep her feeling safe and don't interfere. I hope it wasn't her?..I'm thinking it was the Drake. They don't get the hormones to raise Babies so Peeps can get them to kill them..
