Hi all, so I just made a dizzying price purchase 💸🫠 on Premier 1s website as I am sick of going outside in my slippers with a rifle and a flashlight in the dark when the camera triggers like I did again tonight 😂

I am curious about other people who have these energizers and what your energizer output is and what voltage you get.

SO if you could drop in below, I'm curious how much grounding you have, how much fencing you have and what kind of energizer you have and what your typical voltage ends up being.

I bought a 1joule energizer, their new fancy one that holds 6 days of charge without sun given my weather, and I will have 100 ft of netting and I will have two 18 in and one 3 ft grounding rods connected to the Energizer and I can't seem to actually find a consistent answer anywhere online about how many volts I can expect...

The website says if the fence drops below 3,000 to 5,000 volts here are troubleshooting things but 5,000 volts in my opinion is not going to be enough to deter some of my more determined predators and I feel like that amount of grounding on that amount of fencing should absolutely put out closer to 7,000+ volts...

SO long story short anyone else who uses these Premier one energizers can you let me know how many joules your Energizer is how much grounding you have and what you typically get for voltage?

Trying to make sure that I add enough grounding to pack enough of a punch to deter things like Bobcats and I'm not overly convinced anything I buy solar wise is going to deter a bear but smaller predators like Fox Bobcats coyotes is really my plan if the bear decides he wants in there's nothing I can do to stop him lol

Here is the list of my set up!

I only have their non-charged floppy green fencing, but following in case I need to get more serious

I could be wrong, but I feel anything higher than 5,000 volts would be too much for a chicken. My electric lines are between 3,000 and 4,000 and they made my chickens and dogs scream and run. The good thing about netting is it's hard to get through on its own and add a shock and most predators won't want to keep trying.

This fence is not for keeping chickens in my chickens won't be anywhere near the fence this is to protect the run from predators so I don't have to worry about my chickens ever accidentally touching this fence they will never be near it I want it to be high enough to deter my big predators. From my understanding large Bobcats with thick winter fur need higher voltage than thst to pack a memorable punch but I could be wrong!

Also yes totally! That's what I'm hoping granted the fence is only 4 ft tall so a bobcat could absolutely jump over it but chances are they wouldn't think to jump over it initially they'd probably touch it before jumping since itll be close to the run building and hoping that's enough to deter them but also would prefer if it packed quite a punch 😂

Oh, I gotcha. I honestly don't know the max voltage this kind of netting can safely take. I've never been able to get them higher than 5kV due to the mutiple lines and vegetation.

How much grounding do you have and how many joules is your energizer? The premier one netting is graded for up to 10k volts as long as you are not using a continuous current energizer you dont have to worry about melting.

Not enough, apparently! I don't know how many joules my energizers are - they are 16 years old and faded. But that's good to know about the max kV they can take.

Gotcha! I appreciate you letting me know it's good to know that they can last that long I was worried with the cost that they weren't going to be very long lasting but also I know stuff built these days isn't built as well as probably the ones you have. But I am encouraged by the fact you said it sent your dog running because I'd imagine depending on the breed type if it was a double coat dog it would be similar to most of the Predators I deal with! So even if i am only getting 5k if it works thats cool with me haha

Also here is the plan for the layout I did buy one of the easy fence gate things for the beginning and I will use zip ties to scrunch it up over the chicken tunnel that you can't see that goes out the back of the coop as well that leads to their other run open run during the day . So it's only like 77 ft total of fencing so that Energizer is not having to make a super long fence hot if that affects anybody's opinions on what I can expect voltage wise
