Couple of questions. Did a search and still haven't found the answer.

I want to try Premier's Poultry electric fence kit for day ranging my meat birds. I already have a charger.

Anyone know if I can just run a hot wire to the fence and connect it?

Also, have several different areas to connect to my charger that include open space and driveways. I was told I could take an old extension cord and use that instead of running expensive insulated wire underground or finding a tree line to run wire overhead to the next area.

What do you that farm using Electric fencing do. I need tip and tricks please.

I have the Premier fence. I connect he charger to the fence using a clamp I got from Autozone. The clamp looks like one that goes with a battery charger. I would think you could use an extension cord, it would depend on how far you need to run the electricity. But wherever you hook up to the charger, you will need to have ground rods for it to work correctly.
Also, what kind of charger are you using? I know you are not to use "Weed burner" type chargers. You could check with Premier to see if your charger is OK to use with the fence.
