How often do you clean it out?

I've been washing weekly, but it's kind of a pain: lots of pecking while I connect/disconnect the power cord, then drying out the insulated lid, etc. Didn't know if I could go longer since the weather doesn't go above 40F. I do flush the nipples daily.

Also, I found the BEST stand for it. Super secure, perfect height, and it fits on a 12x12 stepping stone for extra support.

We put ours on a block of wood to get it higher. We don't clean ours other than when we bring it in to fill. We check it daily to be sure it's got water and when it gets low, we bring it in.

If you're getting slime inside, try a couple drops of RV water freshener. The 2-gallon one doesn't last us long enough to get slime, but our 5-gallon one in the coop does so that's what we use.

During winter I really don't clean it out at all. Maybe once or twice while it's plugged in, and that's just dumping out water and adding all fresh water.
